Konbuild's expandable container homes are built in our factory in mainland China, shipped two to a 40' high-cube container and folded out on site into a 34 m² (365 sq ft) building. An Oslo can be supplied empty, or with interior walls, the kitchen or bedrooms removed, which makes it a practical backyard studio or office.

Common questions about backyard studios

Can the building be changed to fit my needs?

Yes. You can upgrade the panelling for better insulation in cold climates. If you want it empty, for example to build offices, that's also possible. Interior walls can be removed, as can the kitchen or bedrooms. Anything more complicated than these simple changes needs to be discussed with us, and there may be an engineering fee.

What kind of foundation do I need?

If building on standard ground, you will need 8 to 12 concrete piers to support the whole house.

Can I add a wood burner? What heating is there?

Sorry, an expandable house cannot have a wood burner added. The heating system can only be an electric heater.
